What’s New

Web App Improvements

The Product and Engineering team has been hard at work adding features to the web app that make it easier than ever to manage your language learning experience with IMMERSE.

My Journey web page

Now you can track your activity and see your learning progress at a glance with the My Journey web page.

When you log into IMMERSE, you’ll see a new tab at the top of the page called My Journey. This tab leads to a page that gives you a snapshot of what you’ve been doing in IMMERSE and how you’ve progressed.

Below there is a heading Foundations Fluency Progress, with Take An Assessment and a progress bar below.

How many days have you been learning? How many events have you attended? How many points have you earned so far for participating in language learning activities?

Get answers to these questions and more at a glance. See how far you’ve come at your current fluency level. Take an assessment to find out if you’re ready for a bigger challenge at the next level.

Discord widget

Participating in Discord is an important way to be a part of the French, English, or Spanish learning community at IMMERSE. Ask questions, share funny moments from class, and find someone to meet up with for language practice.

Now you can enter the IMMERSE Discord directly from the home page thanks to the new Discord widget, and you can even see who’s currently in the conversation.

Help button

The rest of the page shows a list of classes available on the 29th of November, including an Intermediate class called I'm interested in... Adjective + Preposition, an All Levels event called You said hot tea, right, and a Foundations class called Describing Daily Activities

Getting quick answers to your questions or more in-depth support with a problem is now as simple as clicking a button.

Anywhere you are in the web app, you’ll see a little green circle with a question mark in the lower right corner of your screen. Click this button and a pop-up will appear, giving you the option to search help topics or request assistance from a member of the IMMERSE Support team.

Scene Enhancements

IMMERSE’s highly interactive virtual scenes have been enhanced in a variety of ways. New objects have been added to many of the scenes where you take lessons, join social events, and engage with AI conversation partners, and you may notice that a few things look a little different.

These changes are in response to teacher requests as IMMERSE continuously strives to create optimal environments for learning a language in VR.

In addition, new practice scenarios have been added to all of the AI practice scenes. The larger scenes even have additional avatars to interact with. This means you can now practice a wider variety of language functions in every practice scene.

The AI avatar interface now shows the language functions associated with each conversation topic so you can focus on building up particular skills and working towards earning the stamps associated with them.

Bonus Improvements

As you use IMMERSE, you’ll notice a bunch of other little improvements that we believe will make your language learning experience smoother, more enjoyable, and more intuitive:

  • Class reminder - Now a pop-up will appear reminding you that your class will be starting soon. Click Join Your Class to get straight back to your homeroom to enter class, or choose Dismiss to ignore until you finish what you’re doing.
In the Immerse Commons, a popup says Your class is starting soon! There are two options, one with Join Your Class starts in 5 minutes Go to Homeroom and the other with Dismiss Don't stay too long Doors close 5 minutes after the start of class.
  • Post-class menu - At the end of class, you’ll now get a pop-up with options to rate the class, return to your homeroom, or stay in the scene to practice or explore. You can always rate the class later from the web app if you would rather have a little more time to hang out in the scene. If you choose to stick around, you’ll be notified before your stay times out.
Two avatars playing billiards and a popup window that says Hope you enjoyed your lesson! The popup gives three options: Rate this lesson, Stay in the lesson, and Go to Homeroom.
  • Tutorial translation - The audio voiceover in the Tutorial has been translated, so several different languages are now available for hearing it.
